Google in Social Gaming Acquisition Trifecta

Add another small gaming company to Google’s social media portfolio.

Just weeks after acquiring social game and gadget maker Slide for a reported $182 million, the search company has purchased social game developer SocialDeck.

“We’re super excited to announce that someone found our social games as fun as you have–in this case, that ’someone’ is Google,” the company said in an announcement splashed across its homepage.

Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed and Google isn’t saying much about its plans for the company, though presumably it will play a role in the broad social-networking service it’s rumored to be developing. Also figuring prominently in that effort: Online game developer and Google partner Zynga, Slide and virtual currency outfit Jambool, also acquired by Google (GOOG) earlier this month.
